Vanda flabellata, also known as the Fan-Shaped Vanda, is an epiphytic orchid native to regions of Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and China's Yunnan province. It typically grows at elevations between 300 and 1,700 meters in forests or forest edges .​

Plant Characteristics:
Size: This orchid is a small to medium-sized plant, reaching heights of 60 to 120 cm and widths of 30 to 50 cm .​
Leaves: It features thick, leathery, oblong or lorate leaves that are bilobed at the apex.​
Flowers: The flowers are fragrant, measuring approximately 2 cm in width, and are borne on pendant, lax inflorescences ranging from 10 to 25 cm in length. The sepals and petals are yellow to yellow-green, spotted with chestnut to mahogany hues, while the lip is white with purple spots, shaped like a fan .​

Cultivation Tips:
Light: Provide bright, indirect light for about 6–8 hours daily.​
Temperature: Ideal temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F).​
Watering: Water every 2–3 days, allowing the medium to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot​
Medium: Use a well-draining orchid mix with a pH between 5.5 and 7.0

This orchid is also favored for hybridization due to its compact size and attractive, ruffled flowers .​
