Platycerium superbum grows best mounted on:
A wooden board, tree fern slab, or driftwood.
Use a base of sphagnum moss or fern fiber between the plant and the mount to retain moisture.
Bright, indirect light (like under a shade net or near a bright window).
Avoid direct hot sunlight, which can scorch fronds.
Mist or soak once the moss feels dry.
Allow water to drain well — never let it sit in water.
In humid climates, misting 2–3× per week is enough.
Prefers high humidity (60–80%) and warm temperatures (18–30 °C / 65–85 °F).
Ideal for tropical and subtropical areas.
Use a diluted foliar fertilizer (1/4 strength) every 2–4 weeks during active growth.
Balanced type (e.g., 20-20-20 or orchid fertilizer).
Propagated from spores or pups (offshoots).
Pups can be separated and mounted once they develop roots.
