Beautiful choice 🌿 — Platycerium coronarium ‘Cv White is a rare cultivar of the staghorn fern family, prized for its silvery-white fronds and ornamental shape.
Let’s go over how to cultivate and care for it — especially for collectors or beginners.
Prefers bright, filtered light — similar to orchid conditions.
Avoid direct midday sun; morning or late afternoon sun is fine.
If grown indoors, place near a bright east-facing window or use grow lights.
Water when the moss base or mounting medium is almost dry.
You can soak the entire mount in water for 10–15 minutes, then allow it to drain.
In humid areas, mist 2–3× per week; in dry conditions, daily misting may be needed.
Avoid constant wetness to prevent rot.
Ideal range: 20–30 °C (68–86 °F).
Keep humidity around 60–80%.
Great for tropical and subtropical climates, or greenhouse culture.
Best mounted on:
Tree fern slabs, driftwood, or hardwood boards.
Add a pad of sphagnum moss or fern fiber under the plant’s basal fronds to retain moisture.
Avoid soil pots — they prefer air flow around roots.
Use a dilute foliar fertilizer every 2–3 weeks during the growing season (spring–summer).
e.g. ¼-strength orchid fertilizer or balanced NPK 20-20-20.
Do not overfeed — these ferns grow slowly.
Propagate via spores or pups (offsets), though ‘Snow White’ cultivars are often propagated via tissue culture to retain the variegated/silvery traits.
